SEARCH TIPS AND EXAMPLES

TIPS

1) capitalization is Unimportant - Use What YOU lIkE!
2) When using only one search criteria (Year = [any]; Event, Location, and Name are blank),
all And/Or buttons must all be set to Or.
3) Less is More If you type more than one word, the entire phrase you typed will be searched for, not the individual words.
You may not find what you're looking for, because I didn't tag it with the exact phrase you used.
4) Good Event Descriptions to use include Church, Ladies [for Ladies' Night], Rehearsal [brings up both Tuesday nights and Friday before Show], Show, Afterglow, Sing-Out, Heritage [for Olmsted Falls Heritage Days], Visitation, outdoors, Christmas.
5) Good Event Locations to use include Fairview (as in High School); Radisson, Beachcliff (as in Tavern), Stampers, Sweetwater; the (partial) name of a church (Knox, Lakewood, or Community); the (partial) name of a city (Falls, North, River, Medina); or the (partial) name of a Senior Living facility (Normandy, Crystal).
6) Names to search for may include Quartet or Chorus (not Chapter) names as well as individuals.

EXAMPLES

1) To find all photos from a given year:
  • Choose that year from the drop-down (it shows you in parenthesis how many photos there are so far).
  • Leave the rest of the search boxes empty. It doesn't matter how the And/Or buttons are set.
  • Click the Search for Photos button.
NOTE: You can not, at this time, search for photos about which I know nothing; I'm working on it.


2) To find all photos from a given year that relate to the Annual Show:
  • Choose that year from the drop-down.
  • Type Show in the Event Description box.
  • The And/Or buttons should all be set to And
  • Click the Search for Photos button.
    • NOTE: The word Show will bring up all photos tagged as being related to the show, including the taking of program booklet photos at a weekly rehearsal, the Friday night stage rehearsal, and the Afterglow.


    3) To find all photos from a given year that are from the Afterglow following the Annual Show:
  • Choose that year from the drop-down.
  • Type Afterglow in the Event Description box.
  • The And/Or buttons should all be set to And
  • Click the Search for Photos button.



    • 4) To find all photos of a specific person at a given year's Afterglow:
  • Choose that year from the drop-down.
  • Type Afterglow in the Event Description box.
  • Type the person's last name in the (Last) Name box.
  • (If its a common last name like Smith you can try first and last name.)
  • The And/Or buttons should all be set to And
  • Click the Search for Photos button.



    • And buttons restrict the search; Or buttons expand it - be cautious using them!
    5) To find all photos of a specific person in a specific year:
  • Choose that year from the drop-down.
  • Type the person's last name in the (Last) Name box.
  • The And/Or buttons should all be set to And
  • Click the Search for Photos button.



    • Changing And to Or
    6) To find all photos of a specific person OR that relate to a specific year:
  • Choose that year from the drop-down.
  • Type the person's last name in the (Last) Name box.
  • The And/Or buttons should all be set to OR
  • Click the Search for Photos button.
